Terms of Use
Self-custody means self-responsibility. Here's what that means in practice.
Kaspa Wallet is free, open-source software released under the MIT License. By using it, you accept full responsibility for your keys, your funds, and your actions on the Kaspa network.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Kaspa Wallet, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the software. These terms apply to the Kaspa Wallet application and this website (kaspwallet.com).
2. What Kaspa Wallet Is
Kaspa Wallet is a non-custodial, open-source desktop application that allows you to:
- Generate and manage Kaspa (KAS) private keys locally on your device
- Send and receive KAS transactions on the Kaspa network
- View your transaction history and balance
Kaspa Wallet is a community project. It is not a financial institution, exchange, custodian, or money services business. We do not hold your funds, process payments on your behalf, or provide financial services of any kind.
3. Self-Custody — Your Keys, Your Responsibility
⚠️ Your private keys and recovery phrase are generated and stored exclusively on your device. If you lose your recovery phrase, your funds cannot be recovered by anyone — including us.
You are solely responsible for:
- Securely storing your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase in a safe, offline location
- Protecting access to your wallet file and passphrase
- All transactions you authorize — blockchain transactions are irreversible
- Verifying recipient addresses before sending funds
- Keeping your device and operating system secure
4. No Warranties
Kaspa Wallet is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Accuracy of balance or transaction data
- Compatibility with all operating systems or configurations
Use this software at your own risk. Always verify critical information independently.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Kaspa Wallet contributors, maintainers, and community members shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the software, including but not limited to loss of funds, loss of data, or unauthorized access to your wallet.
6. Not Financial Advice
Nothing on this website or within the Kaspa Wallet application constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Cryptocurrency investments carry significant risk. You are responsible for your own investment decisions and should consult qualified professionals where appropriate.
7. Open Source License
Kaspa Wallet source code is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions of the license. The full license text is available in the source repository on GitHub.
8. Third-Party Networks
Kaspa Wallet connects to the Kaspa peer-to-peer network. We do not operate or control this network. Network availability, fees, and transaction confirmation times are determined by the Kaspa protocol and its participants, not by us.
9. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use Kaspa Wallet for any purpose that is unlawful in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to money laundering, fraud, sanctions evasion, or any activity prohibited by applicable law. You are solely responsible for compliance with local regulations regarding cryptocurrency use.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are provided for informational purposes. Kaspa Wallet is a decentralized, community-driven project with contributors across many jurisdictions. No specific jurisdiction is designated as governing law.
