Security First

Built From the Ground Up
for Self-Custody

Kaspa Wallet was designed around one non-negotiable principle: your private keys belong to you and only you. Here is exactly how that works.

How We Protect Your Keys

Six layers of security, each designed to ensure your funds remain exclusively under your control.

Pillar 01

Non-Custodial Architecture

Kaspa Wallet never takes custody of your funds. Private keys are generated entirely on your device using a cryptographically secure random number generator. No part of the key generation process involves a server, an API call, or any external system. You hold the keys — the wallet is software that uses them, nothing more.

Pillar 02

AES-256 Wallet Encryption

Your wallet file is encrypted on disk using AES-256-CBC, the symmetric encryption standard used by governments and financial institutions worldwide. The encryption key is derived from your passphrase using PBKDF2 with a high iteration count. Without your passphrase, the wallet file is completely unreadable — even if someone physically accesses your machine.

Pillar 03

Fully Open Source

Every line of code in Kaspa Wallet is public and available for audit on GitHub. There is no closed-source component, no obfuscated logic, and no hidden telemetry. Security researchers, developers, and users are encouraged to inspect the codebase, report findings, and submit improvements. Trust through transparency, not through promises.

Pillar 04

BIP39 Recovery Phrase

Wallet recovery uses the BIP39 standard — a 12 or 24-word mnemonic phrase generated at wallet creation. This phrase is the master key to your wallet and must be written down and stored offline. As long as you have your recovery phrase, you can restore access to your KAS on any compatible wallet, even if your device is lost or destroyed.

Pillar 05

100% Local Key Storage

Private keys are stored exclusively in the encrypted wallet file on your local machine. They are never uploaded, synced, or transmitted over any network. Kaspa Wallet does not use cloud backup services, does not connect to any authentication server, and does not store any user data externally. What happens on your device, stays on your device.

Pillar 06

No Backend Servers

Kaspa Wallet has no backend servers of its own. The app connects directly to Kaspa network nodes to broadcast transactions and query balances. There is no intermediary service that could be hacked, subpoenaed, or taken offline. Your wallet works as long as the Kaspa network exists — no company, no login, no single point of failure.

What We Never See

Kaspa Wallet collects zero user data. A direct comparison of what is stored locally versus what is never transmitted.

Stored Locally on Your Device

  • Encrypted wallet file (AES-256)
  • Private and public key pair
  • Your KAS wallet address
  • Transaction history (fetched from network)
  • App preferences and settings

Never Transmitted or Collected

  • Your name, email, or identity
  • Your private keys or seed phrase
  • IP address or device identifiers
  • Wallet balance or transaction data
  • Analytics, usage metrics, or crash logs
